Tropicalia to start construction in Miches with Us 485 Million investment.
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - The Cisneros Group of Companies announced today the construction of Tropicalia, a tourism project in Samana Bay, near the community of Miches.Adriana Cisneros de Griffin highlighted the environmental, social and economic benefits that will result from an investment of US$ 485 million in the first three years, from a total of US$ 2 billion by the completion of the project in twenty years.The information was part of the presentation given by Ms. Cisneros de Griffin during the monthly luncheon of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), at which he father, Gustavo Cisneros, also spoke and devoted his speech to the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Cisneros Group´s history.Cisneros de Griffin added that Tropicalia is “an effort to contribute to the development of the Dominican Republic under the solid parameters of productive activity that from its inception proposes a project with systematic social content and respect for the environment. The project is based on the mobilization of conceptual, economic and human resources in order to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals, but especially to fulfill with the needs and aspirations of Miches through solutions that will improve the social, family, economic and environmental development of the area and its people.”She also added that to achieve these goals, efforts have been focused on gathering a multidisciplinary team representing the highest level of professionalism and ethics from the region among which are: the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, Banco Popular Dominicano, and companies such as Auberge Resorts and Ernst & Young, and the Cisneros Group of Companies. Cisneros de Griffin stated that several Corporate Social Responsibility programs have already started in the community of Miches. She also provided impressive estimates of the employment that Tropicalia will generate: 3,000 jobs in the short-term; 6,000 jobs in the medium-term, and 14,000 in the long-term.
